CAREER COUNSELLING

Why career counselling matters

Helping high school students choose the right career path with confidence

Choosing a career path can feel overwhelming. With so many options available, students can struggle to know which direction to take. Career counselling can give direction, provide clarity and improve confidence in what can otherwise be a stressful process.

What makes my approach different

Some career counselling services hand a student a list of career options generated by a single online quiz. We do things differently. At My Career Plan, you will receive:

  • Reliable psychometric tests developed for South African individuals

  • Thorough results that integrate and consider personality, interests, values, aptitude and, where needed, resilience.

  • A personalised career report of 20 or more pages, written specifically for your child.

  • Specific career matches, strengths, study recommendations or subject requirements and next steps.

  • One-on-one sessions, no rushing through results and no one-size-fits-all approach. Dedicated time for questions so each family leaves with genuine clarity.

FAQ

How long does the psychometric testing take?

The aptitude test can take 2-3 hours and needs to be done online with me. Saturday sessions are available for aptitude testing.  The remainder of the tests take approximately 2-3 hours and can be done remotely at a time convenient for you.

Do I need to do anything to prepare?

No preparation needed. You may be asked to send the most recent school report or your work history before the initial consultation. I will guide you through the rest.

How long does it take to get the results?

It will usually take 5 working days. I can accommodate urgent requests depending on availability.
